Little Bo Peep...Colorful Fun, But Still Looking For Her Sheep!

Little Bo Peep   by Joni Nickrent   copyright 2011
Little Bo Peep is still looking for those sheep, but I'm sure they'll come home soon...as the rhyme goes, "wagging their tails behind them."
Popping with color, big wide eyes...
golden locks, straw hat and cane....
Little Bo Peep is definitely not plain!
Now that Little Bo Peep  is finally done.
Have any suggestions for more Rhyme Time Fun?

The Prince...The Princess to Be...The Procession...The Pomp!...The DRESS..The...WHAT JUST HAPPENED!

THE POWER WENT OUT! WHAT?
Yep, NO POWER...NOTHING! How could this be!
It's THE ROYAL WEDDING!!! I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning, night, morning..whatever it was...to watch THE ROYAL WEDDING...to see with my own eyes in real time the WHOLE thing! To see THE DRESS!  The Kate Middleton fashion doll is waiting for her miniaturized version of THE DRESS and I needed and wanted to see it...to make notes...to capture that fairy tale excitement, to have the experience of the real deal...and all I got were these two "lame" shots of the tv screen. One as Kate traveled to the church and the other a  blurred view of her as she was getting out of the car before the power went out!
So my late night product development interest (ok, maybe it was more than just a work related interest, after all it is a fairy tale come true, right!?) in The Royal Wedding was interrupted and now I'm searching the Internet to view all the juicy details of the parts I missed live! Gather details of the dress and frantically work with the costumer to recreate THE DRESS in a fashion doll size! I'm sure glad there's so many amazing shots that show every detail...it will definitely help as we recreate the dress on our beautiful Kate Middleton, oops, make that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge doll!

Ok, off to work...there's a dress to be finished...grab the fabric, the jewels, the lace...start up the sewing machine...and stay tuned as the Fairy Tale continues on our fashion doll version of The Royal Wedding Dress
Congrats to the Duke and Duchess!

Little Bo Peep...Sketching Out The Details...A Work In Progress!

Little Bo Peep   by Joni Nickrent   Copyright 2011
Sharing a sneak peek of Little Bo Peep.  A sketch inspired by a vintage and beautiful painting called "Sweet Bo Peep", by famed artist illustrator, Maud Humphrey Bogart
Sweet Bo Peep  by Maude Humphrey Bogart
This latest edition to the Pop Art Minis Nursery Rhyme Collection is a bit of a departure from the last 3 drawings that have already been completed.
I'm not sure that she will remain a part of this more whimsical collection or maybe she will be the beginning of another more romantic Nursery Rhyme collection.  We'll see as the sketch progresses and the "pops" of color appear.
Little Bo Peep...sketch...work in progress. Waiting for color!
Stay tuned as Little Bo Peep continues her search to find her elusive sheep...maybe I need to make her eyes bigger....hehehe!

Creatively Featured...Alyice Edrich...The Dabbling Mum!

Alyice Edrich   copyright 2009
There's a place called The Hive and it's just buzzing with creative talent!  It's also the place that I met Artist, Writer, Crafter, Virtual Assistant, Movie Buff, and All Around Creative dynamo, Alyice Edrich! Oh, and she's also full of surprises...just check out her "Mystery Grab Bags
(In fact, I was the lucky recipient of one of her Grab Bag Mystery Boxes .)  A creative and art-filled package that Alyice creates with inspiration from her childhood memories of the thrill of grab bags and discovering new treasures. Here's a sampling of just a few of the treats you might find if you take a chance and grab a bag! Too fun!
With over 15 places (Check out the list below) to find Alyice's art, articles, and social networking buzz you can bet that she keeps as busy as a bee! And even with all that she has going on in her creative business, she still manages to keep her family, 2 great kids and a husband she calls "her best friend',  first and foremost in her life...a role Alyice says is the only one she has never doubted!
Alyice has accomplished alot over the years and when I asked her what she felt was one of her biggest and proudest accomplishments, in her creative life she said, "my eMagazine, The Dabbling Mum.  Before I returned to freelancing full time, it grew into a weekly e-zine with 9,000 subscribers and an eMagazine with 40,000 monthly visitors—and all without an advertising budget. It even won a few awards and earned me a nice little income."
WOW! That's one amazing accomplishment, but it doesn't stop there!  Her passion and love of writing led her to compile e-books that she sells on her website, and 3 for free download, as well as, numerous other articles, features, creative writing and more!   (You can read more about Alyice's passion and love of writing on her blog post titled, "Thanks for the Writing Gig")!
She also has a strong need to stay true to her arts and crafts roots! So today you can find Alyice not only writing, but having a blast learning new techniques and trying her hand at various projects including making a favorite creation, her art jars!
Alyice shares a "project tutorial" on how you can make your own here!
She is also busy working on designs for her Zazzle Store which includes creatively turning photos into amazing postcard art and creating unique designs for pendants
Alyice is one amazing woman and has a wealth of creative knowlege. I asked her to share some words of inspiration with us and here's what she had to say, “Believe in yourself”!  Whether you have low self-esteem, like me, or your life is so busy you don’t think you have time to follow your dreams, I want to encourage you to go after whatever it is that makes you feel good about you. Because no matter how hard it may seem, the rewards are worth it.
I can’t tell you how wonderful it feels to do something, or to create something, and later look back upon it and think, “I did that!”
Alyice's list of creative accomplishments is still growing, but don't just take my word for it...do some discovering of your own by visiting one of the many places you can find her creative talent online!

Thanks Alyice for sharing yourself with us and for inspiring us to SOAR!

Little Miss Muffet...From Sunday Sketch To "Pops of Color"

Little Miss Muffet    by Joni Nickrent    copyright 2011
Little Miss Muffet makes her colorful debut
"Poppin" with color in shades of pink orange and blue
Her long golden locks and floral print dress
Are perfect and neat not one sign of a mess.
But that silly spider with the tiny top hat
Will soon sit down and change all that
And Miss Muffet will be off her tuffet in a flash
Running away...the Nursery Rhyme dash!

From Sunday Sketch to colorful completion!
I'm really enjoying this Rhyme Time fun!
Here's a peek of another sketch I've begun!
Can you guess who she is?

A Tisket A Tasket A Paper Mache' Easter Basket...Hand Made with Love!

WOW! Was the first word that I said when I saw the amazing and very large paper mache' Easter baskets that my multi-talented Sis, Shari made for her Grandkids this year! I think she made the Easter bunny blush at such a creative and awesome feat!
Take a look for yourself...I think these awesome baskets would make any bunny hoppy to be able to call them their own...heck, I'm putting my order in for next year!
A blow up punching ball balloon was used to mold the paper mache' around, making for a super size basket shape.  Shair then made 3 dimensional nameplates and unique accents to create a personalized and unique basket for each little kiddie!
Pops of color and a clear acrylic sealer to make sure they'd last for years to come...the collectible and colorful line up! And if you want to know if they were a hit...just take a look at these faces...
I'd say they were definitely a hit...especially filled with awesome fun and fantastic treats. Now that's what I call a tisket, a tasket...a VERY LARGE and AWESOME Easter Basket...handmade with Grandma's Love!
Hey, Shari...May Day's coming up?  Any plans for more basket fun?
