Pssst...I've Got Something Special To Share With You!

Actually its someone special . . . my daughter Emily! I know! I Know! We all think are kids are pretty darn special, but Emily just launched her own website that showcases her fashion styling and amazing art and  I wanted to share it with YOU!   She works full time for Hautelook.com as a lead stylist/make-up artist/digital tech and in her free time does alot of free-lance styling, drawing and creative costuming.  You can find her work on her website at http://www.emilynickrent.com/.  Good Stuff For Sure . . . but don't take my word for it . . . go ahead check it out for yourself!

Here's a sneak peek of a couple of my favorite pieces and there's a lot more on her site!

About the Artist . . . Emily Nickrent
Emily has always had a love for fashion and art and has an amazing talent for mixing the two to create realistic portraits with a stylish fashion twist.  Her attention to detail is evident in everything she does from capturing the perfect expression in a drawing to carrying that same eye for detail into her creative hair and makeup styling. As a self-taught artist she has found a way to express herself through many different mediums including pen and ink, pencil and acrylics and even applying makeup to create the perfect look for every shot.  She has a degree in Fashion Merchandising from the Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles.  Emily is a self motivated and driven creative spirit and is always searching for a way to take her passion for creative art and styling to the next level.

I Went Back To The Drawing Board with a little "Let It Snow!"

It's been a while since I've taken the time and felt really inspired to work on a new Pop Art Mini design, but today was the day.  Motivated by a Pop Art Minis facebook Giveaway I'm putting together I decided that the theme would be "Let It Snow". . .  thanks to alot of input from my friends on facebook!  Inspired and ready to go I pulled out the oil pastels and the result . . .
a silly little snowman with a tip top, top hat, a perfect little panda-santa friend (sans the beard) and Milly the Mouse sitting happily on the brim of the top hat . . . a few candy canes, holly berries and snowflakes swirling in the background and wha-la . . . ready, set, "Let It Snow!"

A little video that shows the design from start to finish!

Santa's Lil' Holly-Day Helper . . . Ho! Ho! Ho! Here We Go!

I know I said up next in the Pop Art Minis Calendar design line up was June, but the left side of my brain decided that it was going to skip ahead to December! So instead of a June Moon I ended up creating "Santa's Lil' Holly-Day Helper".  Santa can always use an extra hand or wing during the holly-day season and his little penguin friend decided to hitch a ride on his shoulder as they prepare for the big day!

Ho! Ho! Ho! Here We Go
The Holly-days are drawing near.
It won't be long before we're singing Christmas Songs
And the big day will be here!
So grab a candy cane and stroll down the holly lane
With Santa and his lil' Holly Day penguin helper
