HIVE CREATIVE CHALLENGE - "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"

Autumn is my favorite time of year (as I think it is for alot of us) and when Melissa, The Queen Bee from The Hive posted about the First official Creative Challenge
THEME: Autumn . . . I was IN!
The piece that I created for the challenge is called  "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"!   Here's Why? For me Autumn seems to come and go so quickly and as much as we try and hold onto the bright, beautiful colors, the crisp, cool weather, the excitement of Halloween well it never seems to stay around long enough.
(Plus, my birthday falls right before Halloween...hehehe)
Mr. Tick Tock Autumn Clock, the moon-like pocket watch is the center of attention in my oil pastel drawing while visions of Autumn swirl above his head . . . Jack-o-lanterns, Black Cats, Button Leaves, Owls in Trees...tickets to the big show . . . Halloween!  I've added a few altered elements with some stamped words, newspaper embellishments and even a clear plastic lense piece placed over Tick Tock Clock's monocle.  It was a perfect challenge and one that I totally enjoyed!

Here's a  little poem that also goes along with my Challenge Entry

Tick Tock Autumn Clock it's time to rock
Halloween is drawing near
Black cats on the prowl and purr with a growl
The bewitching hour is here
Button leaves and Hallowed Eves
Harvest moon hanging low in the sky
Crisp Autumn nights and Jack-o-lantern candle lights
How quickly time passes by
Dance, Dream Be inspired take all that’s desired
It's gonna be an "owl-some" show.
There’s so many reasons, that we love this season
Autumn please stay, don’t go!

Wishing you an Awesome Autumn and a Happy Harvest!

Oh, and since this is a challenge and there is a prize for the most "Likes" I sure would Like it if you Liked my entry . . . Like really I would! Thank you!

HoWLiNg-wEEn Black Cats and Jack-O-Lanterns - A Penchant for Pennants!

Halloween is one of my favorite seasons to design for and on a recent trip to Michael's I came across some fun cardstock pennants! mmm...a light went off and I started thinking about the possibilities for creating with this fun new paper format.   Since Halloween seems to be the inspiration for many of my designs lately I decided my first pennant should be Halloween Themed (probably a  theme for a few more as well! hehehe)
I'm really excited about the way the first one turned out and decided that I would offer the Original OOAK in my Etsy Store.  The pennant features the traditional bright and vibrant colors of all my Pop Art Minis with a Halloween twist and features icons of the season . . . Black Cats, Witches Wands, Jack-o-lanterns, Bats and Candy Corn all on a dark blue background with purple polka dotted border!
Here's a few detail shots!

So I'm off on to work on another design in my new found Passion and Penchant for Paper Pennants.
(Say that fast 3 times...hehehe)
Happy Halloween!

Boo-tiful & Hauntingly Fun Halloween Decorating Ideas!

Well, it's August 1 and I thought it would be fun to get a jump on Halloween with some boo-tiful and hauntingly fun Halloween Decorating Ideas.  so....I've been google searching high and low and have uncovered some treats that I found inspiring enough to share with boo...oh, I mean YOU!

1st up . . . Candy Corn Containers
This sweet treat is always a hit and why not use it for decor too!  Fill up glass cylinders, clear jars & bottles that would be perfect for holding candles and fall flower arrangements!  It's colorful, cute and just plain SWEET!

#2 - A Wall Mural of Monumental Proportions
Ok, this one may require a big blow up of a creepy haunted house, but the effect is amazing! Add the black wreaths and deck out your black table with the goodies shown below and I'm sure you'll have yourself one hauntingly boo-tiful look! ahhhhhhhhaaaaahhhaaaahhhhaaaa! (sorry I couldn't resist)

Seeing how the last photo had some fun food placed strategically upon the table this next addition is an edible treat that, uh . . . well you definitely can eat, but would you want to?

#3 Freaky Witches Fingers and Other Edible or perhaps Un-edible Halloween Treats

#4 Spooky Terrariums
All you need to make these Spooky Spectacles come to life are a few empty pickle, jelly, and other glass jars.  Add some painted twigs, plastic creepy crawlers and a stuffed crow or two and before long you'll have yourself quite a collection of haunting terrariums all brought back from the dead!

And up last, in our first (with more to come) Halloween Decorating Ideas post is something that's got us stuck like glue to the idea . . . Sticviews!
Creative stickers that only stick as long as you want them too and can be created using your own images or you can choose from their Halloween Gallery of Ghoulish Goodies!  They stic to anything: walls, windows, ceilings, your car, bathroom and kitchen tiles, furniture, anything, but when you're done they come "unstuck" with no mess and nothing left behind . . . the perfect disappearing act! Ghostly to say the least!

So that's all for now.  I will definitely continue my quest for more fun Halloween decorating ideas and would love to have you share your Halloween decorating ideas and finds here too!
Happy Haunting!
