My Sis Made This... It's sure to be the "Hit of the Party!"

I know I've bragged on my sister, Shari before because she's always coming up with some of the most creative and fun ideas, but GEE-raffe I couldn't resist sharing another one of her awesome creations! 

It's an adorable hand made Giraffe Pinata that she created for a safari themed birthday party!

In her words here's how she did it...

"I used two balloons - one for the head and one for the body. After I covered the balloons with paper mache, I waited until they dried and then I connected them with a paper-towel roll. I poked four holes in the body and inserted shorter paper-towel rolls for the legs. I reinforced everything with more paper mache. After everything was dry I painted and stained it. It was the "hit" of the party... haha"

Clever, Creative, COOL! 

Oh, Shari, by the way I'm hoping for a really fun pinata for my birthday coming up soon...hint! hint!

"Peek-A-BOO!" & "Gobble Gobble" Complete The Year!

IT'S DONE!

Hip Hip Hooray...all of the designs are complete for the 2011 Snap, Crackle, Pop Art Minis Calendar!  Celebrating the month of October with

"Peek-A-BOO!" 

A Halloween design featuring a bewitching mouse playing "Peek-a-Boo" over a jolly jack-o-lantern and both wearing the cutest witch hats!  A little mischief on Halloween night!

And last but not least the month of November with
"Gobble-Gobble"

featuring a teddy bear pilgrim and his "turkey" friend Fred!  That's it . . . I'll be uploading soon to the Pop Art Minis Zazzle Store and will keep you posted when the calendar is ready to roll out!

Septem-BEAR...Birds and Bees and Falling Leaves!

"Septem-BEAR" is complete and he's got some friends that joined him...two little bumbles and a cute Tweet! Tweet!  September a honey of a month..birds and bees and falling leaves! Almost done...October and November sketches complete just need to add the color and soon all the months will come together in the 2011 Snap, Crackle, Pop Art Mini Calendar!  Now on to October . . . my favorite month and the month I celebrate my b-day!  Wonder if that's why I love October so much or is it the colorful leaves, cool crisp air, trick or treats . . . so many wonderful reasons to love October! Ok...off to work!

"MARCH-ing" On With "Paddy's Little Clover Bear". . . Angelic and Lucky!

Whew, I'm happy to have finally found inspiration for the March Calendar design.  Not sure why this one was so hard for me, but I started several times before finally creating "Paddy's Little Clover Bear". . .  a little Saint (angel) named Paddy...so dreamy with her big green eyes and fun clover wings and Clover Bear . . .  her trusty, cuddly and lucky companion.   March now joins the fun January fun, "Snow Pals" and February's friends, "Purr-fect Sweethearts".

HIVE CREATIVE CHALLENGE - "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"

Autumn is my favorite time of year (as I think it is for alot of us) and when Melissa, The Queen Bee from The Hive posted about the First official Creative Challenge 

THEME: Autumn . . . I was IN! 

The piece that I created for the challenge is called  "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"!   Here's Why? For me Autumn seems to come and go so quickly and as much as we try and hold onto the bright, beautiful colors, the crisp, cool weather, the excitement of Halloween well it never seems to stay around long enough.

(Plus, my birthday falls right before Halloween...hehehe)

Mr. Tick Tock Autumn Clock, the moon-like pocket watch is the center of attention in my oil pastel drawing while visions of Autumn swirl above his head . . . Jack-o-lanterns, Black Cats, Button Leaves, Owls in Trees...tickets to the big show . . . Halloween!  I've added a few altered elements with some stamped words, newspaper embellishments and even a clear plastic lense piece placed over Tick Tock Clock's monocle.  It was a perfect challenge and one that I totally enjoyed!

 Here's a  little poem that also goes along with my Challenge Entry

 

Tick Tock Autumn Clock it's time to rock

Halloween is drawing near

Black cats on the prowl and purr with a growl

The bewitching hour is here

Button leaves and Hallowed Eves

Harvest moon hanging low in the sky

Crisp Autumn nights and Jack-o-lantern candle lights

How quickly time passes by

Dance, Dream Be inspired take all that’s desired

It's gonna be an "owl-some" show.

There’s so many reasons, that we love this season

Autumn please stay, don’t go!

Have You Ever Been "Moonstruck...Underneath A Paper Moon"

Always happy to have a little extra time for creating and with this being the Labor Day holiday I was able to squeeze in another new Pop Art Minis design called "Moonstruck, Underneath A Paper Moon".  The moon is always a powerful inspiration in my creations and my imagination seems to run wild with all the fun ways and creative expressions the Man in the moon might actually make (wink! wink!)  Add a funny little black cat prancing mischievously along a white picket fence, a few of swirls and stars . . . wha-la . . . this little guy is definitely Moonstruck . . . under of course, a paper moon! 

I'll be uploading the new design to my Zazzle Store so come check it out when you get a chance!

What's All The Buzz About A Place Called The Hive?

A few weeks ago I was on one of my typical google search and find missions and came across this new blogging site called The Hive. With a natural curiosity I started buzzing around and decided that hey, it's FREE why not join. After a couple days of reading posts and throwing out a couple of my own I realized that I could import my blog from my blogger account and with a couple quick clicks wha-la . . . 10 posts imported and all of a sudden the points started racking up...too fun, I thought!

I was hooked . . . a part of the The Hive . . . a true bee-liever. . . one of the working blogger bees! Ok, you get the picture! beehehehehe! (sorry I can't resist the bee-puns)

Creator's Melissa and John Marro (along with some other beehind the scenes creatives) are the geniuses behind creatingthehive.com . . . a social networking community for everyone who enjoys, works, lives, breathes the world of arts, crafts and hobbies! This place called The Hive has become a daily, sometimes hourly, well actually sometimes every few minutes read for me! With so much action you can become quite involved or if you only want to stay in the background and buzz quietly around that's perfectly fine too! It's fun, it's interactive and I can honestly say that I've made some amazing contacts through the site!

So what's so special about this blogging site over some of the others?

There's ALOT of interaction, support and encouragement.

Members take an interest in each other and really seem to care about reading your posts and actually leaving comments. I know that my personal blogger site can go weeks without a comment, but in The Hive you'll see comments and encouraging words daily!

There's also The Points! A definite motivation to keep blogging, commenting, sharing and interacting . . . and as much as I try and not think about it, well I do! LOL

So if you're looking for some good old fashioned fun, alot of interaction and encouragement from some amazingly creative and ingenious people you should check out THE HIVE!
