From a Holly Holiday Design to some Calendar fun with the month of May!  Introducing "Teddy Bear Hugs" With Mother's Day one of the biggest holidays that falls in the month of May and inspired by the idea of the "mama bear"... protective and always there it made perfect sense that it should be two bears! The little cub lovingly looking up at his Mama and  proudly shares a flower (created with the help of April showers)!  His little (rub-on) tattoo shows his love as well for MOM and the buzzing about are those fun little black and yellow insects letting us know that all will BEE alright in the month of MAY!

"Think Pink For The Cure!" We Can Make A Difference!

Finding a cure to cancer is a priority on all of our lists and with this the start of October, a month that is dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer,  I wanted to create a Pop Art Mini design that could be my little part in helping in this cause and as a contribution in the fight against not only breast cancer,
but all kinds of cancer!
Calling on inspiration from the color pink, the recognized, symbolic color in the fight against breast cancer and Halloween, the biggest celebrated holiday in October I introduce to you "Pink Halloween Wtich" A wickedly cute witch, not in traditional witch colors, but costumed in every shade of Pink holding a "Think Pink" wand and pink toned "jack-o-lantern".

My Mom lost her battle to renal cell cancer only a little over a year ago and I know how devastating the news of having cancer and the fight that she went through to survive was. Cancer is a terrible disease mentally, physically and financially! So, let's join together to continue to raise awareness and give what you can so that we can say that in our lifetime we helped in the fight against cancer and
contributing to finding a cure!
I believe...do you?

Unfortunately I cannot offer this image as originally drawn in my Zazzle store due to the fact that she carries a wand that says, "THINK PINK" so I will be altering the design in order to pass the copyright rules that have been established on Zazzle.  After I have revised the image I will be offering this new design in my Pop Art Minis Zazzle Store, and for every sale of the NEW
"Pink -Halloween Witch" design on any product I offer in my Zazzle Store during the month of October I will donate 10% of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Organization.
I am hoping that auction of the original "Think Pink For The Cure" drawing will not be interupted for the same reason.  I was planning on posting this in my Ebay Store starting Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 in a 7 day auction with 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the original going to American Cancer Research!
Please make sure to leave a comment and email address if you would like to be notified when the auction goes live!   I will also post when the sale is up and running so stay tuned!

Thanks so much and let's remember to
"Think Pink for the CURE!"

Smiley For A Whiley and Maybe Even Sing? Inspired by Seuss!

A burst of Seuss-energy sparked by a Seuss-tacular find!  While searching for some other unknown treasure I came across some Dr. Seuss books from "back in the day."  I can still remember reading and re-reading these books.  I never got tired of the rhymes and the fun!  To this day I still love Dr. Seuss and my love of reading has never ceased.  I am the proud owner of a Kindle (yes, I love my "real" books too, but when I'm on the go, I go through alot of books and the Kindle is a library at my fingertips!)
So when I found these little treasures I thought "It must be a sign" this is my post! (insert "Smiley for a Whiley" ) Here's a pic of the books that, yes, were a part of that library of Seuss fun "back in my day"!  I know there's more somewhere I just need to keep digging! LOL

On the back of one of my favorites "Green Eggs and Ham" was a little bit about how long ago the "back in the day" might have been  . . . hehehe!

The other things this little find sparked was a happy memory, a smile and a Pop Art Mini, inspired by the whimsical charcters of Seuss.  A reminder to remember the good times, happy memories, laugh, enjoy and to always take time to "Smiley For A Whiley", my answer to The Cat In The Hat, or maybe a distant cousin (insert Smile)

Signing off with a rhyme . . .

Ode To The Dr. Himself!
Now I’m no Seuss that’s for sure
But for my love of Seuss there is no cure.
Come on now tell me, tell me true
Who doesn’t love all those who’s in who-ville, WHO?
Or, how about some Hop On Pop
Once you get started it’s hard to stop
Maybe a little Put Me In the Zoo
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish or BLUE?
Oh, Seuss is just so whimsical and fun,
I’m only getting started and far from done
Now run, yes run if you must,
no reason to stay and make a fuss.
Unless of course you like Green Eggs and Ham
Please stay and enjoy it with Sam I Am
Or perhaps you can’t get enough of The Cat in The Hat
I sure can’t get enough of that!
Ok, enough, don’t scream . . . I’ll quit
But Seuss is amazing you must admit
Before I go, just one last thing
Stop and "Smiley for A Whiley" and maybe even sing!

And that's my Sunday Seuss-Session or is that Ob-Seuss-session?

Raggedy Angels - Prim Blessings And A POP of Color!

I've been a little behind lately with my Pop Art Minis designing and had been trying to pull together some ideas to work on during this holiday weekend.  So the other night when I was searching through a folder of pen and ink art that I had done almost 9 years ago a small collection of angel drawings caught my eye!

I thought that it was funny how I still am attracted to the star theme and repeated patterns on the clothing of the characters . . . both elements that I'm still using in my Pop Art Minis designs today.  I also found myself being drawn to the prim look (something I hadn't really done in a while) and the use of a little quirky accent on each (ie: star  halo, fun shaped wings, striped leggings) a fun little detail.  So after a few quick sketches I decided to try recreating these Prim Angels in my Pop Art Minis style  . . . adding bright blended colors, heavier outlining strokes and a bit of a background . . . not exactly a copy of the original, but inspired by the sketch for sure!
Here is the first in what may become a small collection of "Raggedy Angels" Pop Art Minis.
Raggedy Angels sparkle in the sky at night
Brightly colored blessings full of joy and delight!
Spread your wings and fly through the heavenly clouds above
Sharing happy thoughts, peace and tender love!

Hoping your days and nights are filled with many blessings and brightly colored dreams!

You can also find Pop Art Minis in these fun places too!

Sharing! My Talented Daughter . . . Not Biased At All!

This blog post is about sharing! Sharing someone and some thing that I think is pretty special… my daughter, Emily and her art! I know I’m a biased Mom, but besides the fact that she’s an amazing daughter who I’m proud to call my friend (now that she’s past that 18th birthday…hehehe) she’s an awesomely talented artist! She’s always loved art in all forms. . . DRAMATIC . . . she’d play dress up and stand in front of the video camera for hours entertaining the world, MUSICAL . . . she has a beautiful voice and I LOVE to here her sing , and last, but definitely not least DRAWING & PAINTING . . . her attention to detail and technique amaze me! I’ll try and share the dramatic and musical on a later blog (more technical issues there) but today I wanted to share some of the art pieces that she has created. I think she’s awesome, but I know . . . I’m the mom and that’s my job . . . she just makes it easy!
So here’s a little glimpse into Emily’s portfolio.

You can find more here!

Thanks for letting me share!
