Have You Ever Been "Moonstruck...Underneath A Paper Moon"

Always happy to have a little extra time for creating and with this being the Labor Day holiday I was able to squeeze in another new Pop Art Minis design called "Moonstruck, Underneath A Paper Moon".  The moon is always a powerful inspiration in my creations and my imagination seems to run wild with all the fun ways and creative expressions the Man in the moon might actually make (wink! wink!)  Add a funny little black cat prancing mischievously along a white picket fence, a few of swirls and stars . . . wha-la . . . this little guy is definitely Moonstruck . . . under of course, a paper moon!
I'll be uploading the new design to my Zazzle Store so come check it out when you get a chance!
Here's a little video of the process . . . just in case it doesn't show up in the post.
Enjoy and I hope that you might become Moonstruck Under A Paper Moon too . . . it's really a great place to bee! (shout out to The Hive!)

There's A New Cat In Town And His Name Is BOO!

There's a new cat and town and his name is BOO!
Why name a cat that . . . let me share with you.
Boo you see was born on Halloween
Grinning ear to ear so he could be seen.
But that Halloween night the lights went dark
And this little black cat got lost in the park
So instead of being a scaredy cat
He went around yelling BOO . . . that's that!
So the name just stuck and he holds his head high
With a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye!

Boo Kitty is the latest addition to my Pop Art Minis Halloween Collection.  Created with inspiration from the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland but with a Halloween twist.  Stars and the moon are always fun, add a Jack-o-lantern to the mix and the composistion is complete.    This little Boo Kitty design is available in my Zazzle Store on a variety of fun and creative products including t-shirts, posters, keychains, and more.

GOOGLE . . . Gregarious, Giggles and Groovy Doodles. I'm Hooked!

I am a Google junkie!

If there is something I don't know and need to find quickly I Google It . . . and sometimes giggle at the greatness of the search!
So why the post about Google? Well, besides my obvious obsession with Google search it's the LOGO...the Google Doodles as they are creatively called and it all started back in 1999! Here's the exact explanation as to why the logo change from the Google site itself hence
(hence...a funny word, but seemed appropriate...I think I'll google search the origins of that when I'm done here)
the quotations

"In 1999, the concept of the doodle was born when Google founders Larry and Sergey played with the corporate logo to indicate their attendance at the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert. A stick figure drawing was placed behind the 2nd o in the word, Google and the revised logo was intended as a comical message to Google users that the founders were “out of office.” While the first doodle was relatively simple, the idea of decorating the company logo to celebrate notable events was well received by our users."

From that point on it became a tradition and now requires a team of amazing artists to create the awesome changing Google Doodles.  The doodle team has created over 300 for Google.com in the US and over 700 have been designed internationally.  Like the amazing company that they are they even host a Doodle 4 Google Contest that lets K-12 students submit their doodles in hopes of being selected as an official Google Doodle Logo for a day!  Actually anyone can try and get in on the doodle deal by either submitting a suggestion for a new Google Doodle to  proposals@google.com or submitting an actual doodle fan design to
proposals@google.com  (The Google doodle at the beginning of this post is my Pop Art Minis version)
You can find all of the Google Logos through the years here!

I think that one of my most favorite Google Doodles so far was the one they doodled for Dr. Seuss (Mar. 9, 2009) I may be biased as I LOVE SEUSS TOO

Which brings me to my shout out poem or "Seuss-ism" about "Google"

I google morning, noon and night.
I google happy, silly, trite.
Do you dig groovy google doodles too?
I think you should . . . I really do
Now if you think I've lost my mind
because I google all the time
It could be true . . . I agree with you
but to google is to find great things
things that I could not find with bings
Ok, Enough of this google poem
I'm off to google jeroboam!

Oh, wait . . . one last thing before I go
Google let's you create your own search logo
Check it out . . . it's fun . . . you'll see
Soon you'll be a google junkie just like me!

And to think that Google started out as "Backrub"

Raggedy Angels - Prim Blessings And A POP of Color!

I've been a little behind lately with my Pop Art Minis designing and had been trying to pull together some ideas to work on during this holiday weekend.  So the other night when I was searching through a folder of pen and ink art that I had done almost 9 years ago a small collection of angel drawings caught my eye!

I thought that it was funny how I still am attracted to the star theme and repeated patterns on the clothing of the characters . . . both elements that I'm still using in my Pop Art Minis designs today.  I also found myself being drawn to the prim look (something I hadn't really done in a while) and the use of a little quirky accent on each (ie: star  halo, fun shaped wings, striped leggings) a fun little detail.  So after a few quick sketches I decided to try recreating these Prim Angels in my Pop Art Minis style  . . . adding bright blended colors, heavier outlining strokes and a bit of a background . . . not exactly a copy of the original, but inspired by the sketch for sure!
Here is the first in what may become a small collection of "Raggedy Angels" Pop Art Minis.
Raggedy Angels sparkle in the sky at night
Brightly colored blessings full of joy and delight!
Spread your wings and fly through the heavenly clouds above
Sharing happy thoughts, peace and tender love!

Hoping your days and nights are filled with many blessings and brightly colored dreams!

You can also find Pop Art Minis in these fun places too!
