The Hive Is All A BUZZzzz . . . All Hail The Queen "B"

Introducing
"The Queen "B" of The Hive"
I've been buzzing around this place called The Hive for several weeks now and I must say the creative fun that goes on here is crazy cool!  I'm inspired every day by this group of amazing artists, not only by their talent, but by how supportive and positive they all are!  If you haven't already visited The Hive you should definitely check out.  It's one of the fastest growing social communities on the Internet . . .  a place where you can make creative connections between everyone in the arts, crafts and hobby industry.
So this new Pop Art Minis is my shout out to The Hive and the Queen Bee herself, Melissa Marro

HIVE CREATIVE CHALLENGE - "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"

Autumn is my favorite time of year (as I think it is for alot of us) and when Melissa, The Queen Bee from The Hive posted about the First official Creative Challenge
THEME: Autumn . . . I was IN!
The piece that I created for the challenge is called  "Tick Tock Autumn Clock"!   Here's Why? For me Autumn seems to come and go so quickly and as much as we try and hold onto the bright, beautiful colors, the crisp, cool weather, the excitement of Halloween well it never seems to stay around long enough.
(Plus, my birthday falls right before Halloween...hehehe)
Mr. Tick Tock Autumn Clock, the moon-like pocket watch is the center of attention in my oil pastel drawing while visions of Autumn swirl above his head . . . Jack-o-lanterns, Black Cats, Button Leaves, Owls in Trees...tickets to the big show . . . Halloween!  I've added a few altered elements with some stamped words, newspaper embellishments and even a clear plastic lense piece placed over Tick Tock Clock's monocle.  It was a perfect challenge and one that I totally enjoyed!

Here's a  little poem that also goes along with my Challenge Entry

Tick Tock Autumn Clock it's time to rock
Halloween is drawing near
Black cats on the prowl and purr with a growl
The bewitching hour is here
Button leaves and Hallowed Eves
Harvest moon hanging low in the sky
Crisp Autumn nights and Jack-o-lantern candle lights
How quickly time passes by
Dance, Dream Be inspired take all that’s desired
It's gonna be an "owl-some" show.
There’s so many reasons, that we love this season
Autumn please stay, don’t go!

Wishing you an Awesome Autumn and a Happy Harvest!

The Cupcake Fairy . . . A Fairy Sweet Treat!

Slowly my attempt to bring in altered elements to my  Pop Art Minis designs is beginning to evolve with the help of my tiny stamp pad and stamping letters that I had tucked away in a drawer, far, far, far in the back of my closet.
Inspired by some amazing Artists at The Hive  I made my first attempt at adding the stamped alphabet art to my Queen of Halloween design and decided to add  more "font fun" to my new design The Cupcake Fairy.  I am really liking the new element and hope to find more ways to bring the altered art style into some of my new designs for a bit of a different look.  The Cupcake Fairy was really fun to create with her whimsical costuming and carefree look as she sits atop a yummy sprinkles cupcake perched on a fancy pink and green cupcake treat box . . . all the while she reminds us to fly high and dream of fairy fun!
The Cupcake Fairy Design will be available in my Zazzle store under "sweet treats" so be sure to stop by the sweet shop and check it out!
Here's a few close up shots of some of the details.

And of course she wouldn't be complete without at least a little  rhyme time.

The Cupcake Fairy looks oh, so sweet
As she perches atop the cupcake, definitely a treat!
Sprinkles on the frosting and cherries on her dress
So much sweetness to be found, a confection success.

The Halloween Queen . . . A'Musing About the CROWN!

After thinking for quite a while on what I could create for The Hive's - Cool 2 Craft Creative Play challenge for September . . . which was all about the CROWN. I decided that it would be fun to create a Pop Art Minis illustration that combined the fun of fall and Halloween with the crown element.  Although not a crown that a real person could wear I do think The Halloween Queen does a pretty good job of rocking her awesome star-studded crown complete with stamped letters.  (my attempt at altered art 101 hehehe)

The Halloween Queen
Without further ado I'd like to introduce to you
The Halloween Queen named Mary
She has a pet cat, a smiling black cat at that
and she's definitely not too scary!
So please come along, dance, sing a song
and join in the Hallow's Eve Ball
Queen Mary welcomes you and your friends too
as we celebrate the joy of Fall!

Don't Worry BEE Happy . . . or is that GRIN and BEAR it?

DON'T WORRY BEE HAPPY!
We're often told to think of the positive in everything we do
To look for the silver lining and things will work out for you.
Life is not an easy task to have to muddle through
But, with a positive attitude we'll surely have a better view.
Don't worry BEE happy we may  have been told
It's the story of GRIN and BEAR it which sometimes can get old
So I'd like offer a suggestion . . . I hope that you don't mind
When you feel a little blue and are tired of the daily grind
Take out  your jar of honey that sweetness from within
And I will guarantee before long you'll start to GRIN.
Share it with a friend or two and the smiles will surely double
Those things that gave you trouble will begin to turn to rubble.
Laugh, enjoy and share with all that's in your heart
And although things won't be perfect it will be a perfect start.
So what's this really all about . . . this don't worry BEE  happy thing
It's about living, giving, creating, even imagining . . .
That once we start to share all that we have to give
We will BEE happy because we have really started to LIVE!

Dedicated in loving memory to my Mom who knew how to truly BEE happy . . . always giving, creating and imagining . . . a true CELEBRATION of LIFE!
Happy Birthday Mom!

Peek a BOO! Sharing with YOU . . . SO Exciting!

As some of you may know I work "by day" on the  product development of and as the "stylist to the dolls" for all of the Charisma Brands collection of dollies.   Marie Osmond Dolls is one of those amazing and fun brands!  It's exciting, challenging, and very rewarding, but today was one of those special days when all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes is recognized with a special feature. There on the front cover of Doll Reader Magazine (an industry Magazine that is all about DOLLS) playing "peek-a-BOO" was our very own "Adora Belle - Frieda Fright Mop Top" and an article inside that talked about Marie turning 19
(yeah, I know . . . she gets younger every year . . . don't we all!  hehehe).   Actually that's 19 year's in the doll business.  It is an awesome article that also showcases the  "Adora-belle" collection of articulated Mop Tops, which as one of the peeps behind the scenes coordinating and  helping in the design process and  the day to day development . . . it's soooo exciting and fun to be a part of this recognition.
Here's a few more shots of the pages from the article.

Aren't they just the cutest . . . I know I'm not too biased!
And if you haven't had your dolly fill yet . . .
We also have some more amazing collections  (that I just happen to know personally from development start to finish...hehehe) from baby dolls to witches, beautiful Reproduction Bru's to cute as can be toddler dolls. from Kewpie to Penny Brite and everything in between.
Come check them all out when you have a minute or a few, uh . . . days (yeah, there's that many . . . hehehe)  I'm sure if you love dolls you're gonna find one you can't live without!

Have a Delightful Dolly Day!
